The Ca’ Nova Lake, the Archaeological Museum and the “La Bastia” Archeopark
The origins of Cavaion Veronese date back to the Bronze Age.
Archaeological finds discovered in the lake of Ca’ Nova have been dated between the end of the third
millennium and the beginning of the second millennium BC.
These artefacts are now exhibited at the Cavaion Archaeological Museum.
On the top of Mount San Michele (336 m a.s.l.), overlooking the village, lies the
“La Bastia” Archeopark, where the remains of a religious building dating back to the 11th century
can be seen. The discovery of decorated limestone fragments from the 9th century suggests an even earlier origin.

Typical Products of Cavaion
Wine and Olive Oil
Cavaion is one of the six municipalities of the “classic” Bardolino DOC wine-producing area,
known for its light ruby-red colour and harmonious, dry flavour.
Local winemakers also cultivate other grape varieties, such as Chardonnay, producing excellent white wines and
champenois sparkling wines.
The local extra virgin olive oil, with its Mediterranean character, is part of the protected area
supervised by the Riviera degli Olivi consortium, a recognised denomination of origin.
La Fogassa
La Fogassa is a traditional cake once prepared on the grate of the fireplace using only a few simple
ingredients. Today it can be tasted in local bakeries and in some shops and cafés in Cavaion.
